Soon after Eduard’s graduation from the school of Gnesin, the Volchek family decided to immigrate to Melbourne, Australia under the Glasnost policy of the Soviet Government.
Eduard Volchek combined work with studying music at the Victorian College of the Arts. It was soon afterwards that a businessman heard him play in the hotel bar and offered him a corporate sponsorship, which later included a trip to Russia to study at the Moscow State Conservatory. For Eduard attending the same conservatory from which Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff had graduated was a dream comes true.
After studying in Russia Eduard Volchek went to America to continue his musical education at the Julliard School in New York.
Few years ago great tragedy struck – the death of Eduard’s grandfather, who he describes as the best teacher in life, who always dreamed of Eduard recording his album. After the death of his grandfather Eduard started working on making his first album - “Expressions”, a collection of his favorite songs which includes the piece ‘Expressions’ that he composed in memory of his grandfather. The process took nine months and the 16 track album includes movie favorites like ‘Lara’s Theme’ and the ‘Godfather Theme’, as well as lively medleys and classical tunes. Some of the tracks were recorded with the Victorian Philharmonic Orchestra.
“Expressions” became popular in Victoria after being played on Melbourne radio stations. The album was also named CD of the month by 3AW’s leading talk-back show host Ernie Sigley.
Eduard also performed a musical piece from “Expressions” at the Channel 10 show “Good Morning Australia”, where he was introduced by host Bert Newton.
In August of 2002 Eduard produced his new album “The Beginnings” which was released at his last gala performance at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.
Today Eduard dedicates his time to performing, writing and recording music and is planning a concert tour around Australia and Asia.
